HFC-134a is the ideal and preferred product to replace Freon (CFCs) in the refrigeration industry.
HFC-134a is used in many applications where CFC-12 (dichlorodifluoromethane) is used, including: refrigeration, polymer foaming and aerosol products. It is currently used in automotive air conditioning, domestic appliances, small stationary refrigeration equipment, medium temperature refrigeration in supermarkets, and commercial and industrial chillers. HFC-134A has also been developed for use as a carrier for pharmaceutical inhalants due to its low toxicity and non-flammability, and can also be used in aerosols where toxicity and flammability are critical.
